DO I NEED TO COME TO GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA AT ANY TIME WHILE ENROLLED IN THE DEGREE PROGRAM?

Students in the online MS in Tourism and Hospitality Management program are never required to come to campus but are welcome to attend the graduation ceremony in person. This program is 100% online and asynchronous, meaning classes can be completed on your schedule.  

DO I HAVE TO DO A PRACTICUM OR INTERNSHIP? 

Students of the online MS in Tourism and Hospitality Management program can choose between a practicum in a professional setting or a professional paper. See the Curriculum page for details. 

DO I HAVE TO BE ENROLLED FULL-TIME? 

With our current course offerings, students of the online MS in Tourism and Hospitality Management program can choose to enroll as a full-time student taking nine credits per term or as part-time students taking less than nine credits per term. View the Curriculum page for details. 

CAN I EARN ANY CREDIT FOR PAST EXPERIENCE? 

While the University of Florida does not currently award credit for past life or work experience, students can transfer up to nine graduate credits from a regionally accredited university with an advisor’s approval. Speak with an academic coordinator or visit the Admissions page for details.

IS THERE AN AVERAGE GPA REQUIREMENT FOR THE PROGRAM? 

Online MS in Tourism and Hospitality Management students are required to maintain a minimum average GPA of 3.0. 

IS THE ONLINE MS IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ASYNCHRONOUS OR SYNCHRONOUS? 

Though courses in the program are primarily asynchronous, faculty and students may decide to work together synchronously and may be required to log in to Zoom video calls on occasion. 

HOW QUICKLY CAN I EXPECT FACULTY TO RESPOND TO MY QUESTIONS? 

Students can expect to hear back from faculty within 24 hours unless otherwise indicated. 

DOES THE MS IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS? 

The University gladly welcomes international students to the online MS in Tourism and Hospitality Management program. In addition to the standard admissions requirements, international applicants are required to submit TOEFL scores. 

International applicants should carefully review the International Admissions page. 

HOW WILL I RECEIVE AN ADMISSIONS DECISION ONCE I’VE SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION? 

Applicants are informed of an admissions decision — denied or accepted — via email within two weeks of completed application submission.
